It's Not Canon!

Uhm. So yeah. I'm a slash fan. Like super duper a lot.
I'm not in any way like the majority of them though. I don't insist that my pairings are truetruetrue. I just enjoy the thought of them, because they're fun. I also don't go to conventions and/or meet celebrities and ask them for their thoughts on fic. That is embarrassing and awkward.
Anyway, even though I do not make a fool of myself in public with my fangirling, I do very nerdy things like make Sailor Moon-esque characters out of my favourite fictional couples, using this maker thing that I found by accident one day.
So yeah:

Avatar: the Last Airbender
Zuko/Sokka

Ben 10
Kevin/Ben

Harry Potter
Scorpius/Albus-Severus

Rocket Power
Lars/Otto

Scooby Doo
Freddy/Shaggy

Static Shock
Virgil/Richie

So. idek. That's probably the most embarassing thing I've ever admitted to.

Embrace the Deception

You know what's awesome?
Psych.
I've always really enjoyed that show, but then I found out that it's on Instant on Netflix. So, of course, I've been watching the first few seasons when I get a chance.
One of my favourite things about the show is the communication between Shawn and Gus. Then, in episode 9 of season 1, Forget Me Not, I noticed something hilarious. Shawn distracted a ranger that he and Gus were stealthily interrogating SPECIFICALLY so they could share a disbelieving look.

Here:

Ranger: "Fact is, we had a guy killed by a mountain lion just a couple days ago."
Gus: "Does that kind of thing happen often?"
Ranger: "Oh, a few times in the past fifty years."
Gus: "I thought mountain lions were afraid of humans."
Ranger: "Generally, but if they get hungry enough... We've had a really dry year; that means reduced vegetation. Reduced vegetation means fewer deer for the lions to feed on [this is where Gus notices the lie].
Can't really blame the cat. It gets hungry and it wants to eat."
"You mind if I ask you a question that's completely unrelated?"
"Sure."
"Is that...real mahogany?"
[Turns to look. Obviously confused.]
THIS LOOK. RIGHT HERE.

Guys. Seriously?

Deprivation

So, I'm trying to pull an all-nighter, for reasons that are not actually too important.
Anyway, as such, there'll probably be waayyy too many posts within the next few hours.

This one is about this fun little meme from Livejournal where you take the first line of 20 songs from your iPod (on shuffle) and use them as a poem.
However, I cheat a little, and rearrange the lines, instead of leaving them as is. This is such a good way to de-stress or what have you, so I've done a few of them over the last few weeks.
(Kudos if you recognize any of the songs!)

First:
Lyrics given:
Do you wanna go slowly?
We're living in repition.
Let's dance in style.
Every afternoon when the clock strikes four.
Make me beautiful.
There's only two types of people in this world.
I can see it in your eyes.
Friends say it's fine.
If you want me to wait, I would wait for you.
Off to the new day's mist I run.
Don't tread on me.
One love, one heart.
Here we are.
I'm gonna fucking come.
In the town where I was born lived a man who sailed to sea.
I don't know who to trust.
Pain, without love.
Breaking my back just to know your name.
On your way to the best years of your life.
I am an arms dealer.

Second:
Lyrics given:
Give it to me baby.
So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you.
It is still me that makes you sweat?
You told me, "I see you rise."
Sometimes I get my head in a dilly.
Golly Sandra, you've grown up really crazy.
I've had a little bit too much.
I forgot what it feels like to be normal.
My tea's gone cold.
We are the things of shapes to come.
Hello there, the angel from my nightmare.
Got a crush on a pretty pistol.
I may run and hide when you're screaming my name.
Oh darlin' please believe me.
When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me.
Have you ever been hated?
For the benefit of Mr. Kite, there will be a show tonight.
Here lies Amelia Bright.
It's been a hard day's night.
I see a bad moon risin'.

Third:
Lyrics given:
In a field outside of town.
She said she's no good with words.
I looked out this morning and the sun was gone.
Hear the sound of the falling rain.
Nothing you can do that can't be done.
Jailhouse gets empty.
Counting on different ideas drifting away.
I've been waiting a long time.
Make it count, play it straight.
Steve walks merrily down the street.
Stop stalling, make a name for yourself.
She's such a flirt and I'm the lonely heart.
You've got this new head filled up with smoke.
A dark congregation of familiar faces.
Weight of days lost hold you down.
Try to see it my way.
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away.
I've been let loose and now I'm crawling up the walls.
You let me violate you.
Back in black.

"Because I love..."

Well. That last post made me remember how much I love this interview of Neil Patrick Harris.

Part One
Part Two

Favourite Quotes:

"I just wear the jodhpurs and have the big... what's that called?"
"Oh the voice-make-you-louder-a-thon."

"Vin Diesel sings Out Tonight."
"One day maybe. One day."

"He [Danny Bonaduce] smells a bit like biscuits."
"I wouldn't have expected that."

"Fred, who's our Cairn terrier - "
"Cairn terrier. A Scottish dog?"
"Yeah, named Fred, appropriately."

"It's very hot in Albuquerque, and some parts of that town smell like vomit."

"Vegas is clean everywhere! There's no vomit smell there!"

"And this one's a rooster, because I love -"
"Heyyyy! Neil Patrick Harris, everybody!"

Dilly Dally

I'm pumped up.
I think I'll share why:

I) I've Just Seen a Face (Across the Universe version)

II) She's Country (Jason Aldean)

III) Thanksgiving!

IV) Red Hood: The Lost Days

V) This pure majesty:

"Parental Advisory"

So I've finally ventured uptown to the comics store.
It is now probably my favourite place ever.

On my recent trip, I bought The Greatest Hero You've Never Heard Of! Booster Gold #10 and Deadpool Vol. 1 Secret Invasion.
Then, of course, I went to the Strand and found The Greatest Hero You've Never Heard Of! Booster Gold #36, Red Hood: The Lost Days #2 and chapters 1 & 3 of Supernatural Beginning's End. Clearly, I need to head back to Midtown and try and find chapter 2, because I can't exactly skip it.

So, I read Supernatural chapter 1 last night, and I love it.
Sam was pissy, of course, and Dean was trying to be mediator, as always, and John was cold, as usual. But I liked that there were excerpts from John's journal; they sort of showed that John knew that Sam was like him and that he really did try not to be a hardass when it came to his youngest. ARGH, but the part when they're with the Naga hurt me deeply. John was mad at Cox for shooting the Naga after doing nothing wrong, and seemingly never really having done anything wrong before either, and that endeared him to me, because it showed he wasn't a total monster (which I never really thought he was, but it's nice to have solid proof). And then, of course, 6 panels later, he backhands the shit out of Sammy, causing him to (seriously plan to) walk away, and cue Dean's heart to break. Sammy is always my favourite, even though he's a bitch, and makes bad decisions, and hurts Dean's feelings pretty much alltheeffintime. idek. I just love him.

And then, after finishing SPN and solemnly shaking my head, I moved on the the Deadpool.
I love Wade Wilson, because he's a sassy bitch. I don't have a ton to say about this one, to be honest. I just love Deadpool, and that's really all that matters.

I'd rather not read the Red Hood or Booster Gold until I have the earlier issues, but they were such good quality and so cheap that I couldn't resist.

Erm. That's it.

Top 10 Disney Songs Ever
(with a lot of honourable mentions, because Disney is really good at music)

10.
One Jump Ahead - Aladdin
It's just so catchy, and upbeat, but seriously, listen to the words. It's kinda sad. :\

9.
Another catchy tune, plus I have a weakness for songs that have other languages dispersed within.

8.
This would be higher on the list, because I love it so freakin' much, and it's by Phil Collins. HOWEVER, it makes me cry. EVERY. TIME.

7.
Bells of Notre Dame - Hunchback of Notre Dame
This is basically my second favourite Disney movie, after the Lion King, and this song is chilling, and I love Clopin, and he has this ridiculous note right at the end of song that is mostly drowned out by the crescendo, but it's so epic.

6.
I guess I just really have a thing for catchy Disney tunes, because they're, uhm...catchy? Simba is just so cute!

5.
Colors of the Wind - Pocahontas
I'll admit I have an uber weakness for this movie. It's just that the heroine is Native American! Like me! I don't know. When I was little, that was awesome. And then, this song played and it was amazing, and I've got it on my iPod even. Just so much love.

4.
I remember really loving Megara, but I can't think of why, except for the line, "I'm a damsel, I'm in distress. I can handle this. Have a nice day!" Oh, and of course, this song. Her voice is just rough and low and I love voices like that.

3.
God Help the Outcasts - Hunchback of Notre Dame
See? Love this movie. Love Esmerelda. Just love. I guess, besides my thing for catchy songs, I also enjoy the sad ones? idek.

2.
Okay, so this song is just awesome, but I'm partially biased, I think, since this song was a really big part of my high school memories. Like, I can't even begin to describe why, but take my word for it, this song is really majestic when sung in a great harmony by a small class trying to waste time.

1.
Be Prepared - Lion King
This is probably the best Disney song every recorded. Clearly, this is just my opinion, but really, who doesn't just get chills with Scar's seductively evil voice and the fact that this is how they pretty much introduce the plot to kill Mufasa, and man, I just love this song. I listen to it pretty much every day before class.

Honourable Mentions:

  • pretty much the rest of the Lion King soundtrack
  • After Today and On the Open Road from A Goofy Movie
  • Prince Ali from Aladdin
  • Court of Miracles (more Clopin!) from Hunchback of Notre Dame
  • Reflection from Mulan
  • Go the Distance from Hercules

Wronski Feint!

I love being creative!

I'm on a broom,

I'm on a broom,
Everybody look at me, 'cause I'm flyin' on a broom.
I'm on a broom,
I'm on a broom,
Take a good hard look at the mother fuckin' broom.

I'm on a broom, mother fucker, take a look at this,
I'm straight floatin' in the air, tryina catch a snitch.
Dodgin' bludgers, cheerin' chasers in the red and gold,
You can't catch me mother fucker, 'cause I'm on a 'Bolt.

Take a picture, trick,
I'm a champ, bitch,
We drinking Butterbeer brew
'cause it's so rich.
I got my Quidditch team,
and all my Gryffindors,
I'm winning House Cups,
when I'm not winning wars.

I'm on my Firebolt, doin' flips and shit,
Pullin' Wronski Feints, makin' e'erbody upset.
But this is Quidditch and I ain't crashed it yet,
I'm Harry Potter, mother fucker, don't you ever forget.

I'm on a broom and
it's going fast and
there's a pretty good chance
I'm gonna crash-land.
I'm king of the pitch,
on a broom like Viktor.
When I catch the snitch,
All ya see is a quick blur.

OH HEY GUYS. HP7 COMES OUT RULL SOON <3

Compelled Australia Lover

I love Australia. I went three years ago, on my first solo vacation and completely fell in love, and still to this day, I'm completely enamoured. I want to go back as soon as possible, but money-wise, not particularly an option right now.
Favourite things about Australia (as I remember them):

I. TIM TAMS
They have recently been released in Target stores ('recently released' meaning I recently found out about it). They are chocolately, and almost too sweet, and so versatile. My host family condemned me to a slow chocolately death when they introduced me to them.

II. Sydney.
Cheesy? Maybe a little. But it really is one of the most wonderful places I've ever seen.
The Opera House. Easily identifiable. Normally I avoid tourist spots like the plague, but let's be for real right now, who wouldn't go see the opera house? (To be honest, I also did a lot of other touristy things as well.) There was a junior orchestra practicing while I was inside, and holy crap they were amazing. I would, of course, expect nothing less. The harbour bridge is also a great thing to have in the background of pictures. I personally didn't do the climb, but I know some people who did. They loved it. That is on my bucket list.
University of Syndey. I'm really considering there for grad school. It's gorgeous, and has pretty much every subject I focus on.

III. Everyone is running (or so it seems)
Realistically, I'm pretty sure Australians don't really run any more than other place, but seriously, no matter what time of day I was out and about, there were about 10 people running around.

IV. Cairns
Cairns is quite the lovely place. Not only are there some really pretty parks right on the beach, there are is an effin' awesome indoor bazaar. I spent approximately 2 hours just walking around in there.
IV. a. Kuranda
Not actually part of Cairns, but I visited them at the same time, and they're only a trek up a mountain apart, so it counts.
I loved the market. There was a quaint little candy shop, a little hippie villiage and this:
Aboriginal dancing. And boomerang throwing. Both ridiculously fun. There was also spear throwing, but I'd already done that in two other places, so I opted out of that.
IV. b. RainforeStation
Awesomely enough, the family I stayed with lived right across from the RainforeStation site, so we went over and walked the trails and everything. This is also where I rode in an army duck. I had, up until then, no idea what an army duck was. I'm glad I know now.

V. The Wildlife
Koalas. Pretty chill little guys. Also, soft (and smelly).
Crocs. These suckers get big and scary. The baby are cute and easy to hold though.
Wallaroos. They're just so goofy. Seriously, so cute though.
Dingos. Evil. Cute.
Emus. Will love you forever if you feed them. Sidenote: my host family had emus in their backyard. They were literally in the rainforest, so it's not really that surprising, I suppose. Plus, they're just so silly looking:
Kangaroos. As long as you're feeding them, they are cool with you being around them, apparently.
I hate to admit it, but I did actually eat kangaroo meat. It's not bad. Kangaroos are like deer, I guess? Just everywhere and getting hit by cars and stuff. Anyway, that brings me to the next thing:

VI. Aboriginal Villiages
They cooked kangaroo for us. I wasn't exactly going to say no.
One of the men noticed I was sick (non stop travelling does that, I suppose), and gave me the most phenomenal cure known to man.
Yup. Green ants. I ate a handfull of these guys and was over my illness in roughly an hour. Didn't get sick for the rest of my trip. They're actually sort of sour, like green apple flavoured candy.
I also learned to play the didgeridoo, throw a spear semi-well, and weave a grass basket. It was a good day.

VII. People are friendly!
At least, the ones I met. I had a good conversation with one woman on the bus.

VIII. There's so many Asians
Okay, so I don't want to, like, offend anyone, but I really love East Asian cultures, and just Asian people in general. My Chinese friends find this so weird, but I just do. So, this is just a really big thing to me. I don't even know.
I guess it's a common thing for Chinese and Japanese people to go on vacation or go to school in Australia.

IX. They have droughts
While this isn't actually a good thing by any means, I just find it so endlessly amusing that they are an island, and not even a particularly big one, surrounded by water and they are out of water. I don't know, maybe that makes me a bad person.

Last, but not least:

X. It's completely different from the States without being a culture shock.
It just felt so different being there than being anywhere in the United States. I can't even articulate my feelings on this. It was like the skies were bluer and the grass was greener. I feel like that's a really cliché thing to say or something, and maybe if I lived there, I'd feel differently, but having only had a vacation there, it's like paradise.
